New Whitepaper ‘Open-Source Software for Structure-Preserving Computational Fluid Dynamics’ published in the ERCOFTAC Bulletin

The whitepaper Open-Source Software for Structure-Preserving Computational Fluid Dynamics of Francesco Capuano, Artur Palha, Francesc Xavier Trias Miquel, and me has been published in the ERCOFTAC Bulletin.

The new ERCOFTAC special interest group SIG 55 “Advanced Numerical Methods for Scale-Resolving Simulations” focuses on developing structure-preserving numerical methods that maintain key mathematical and physical properties, thus improving physical fidelity and computational efficiency. We provide a brief review of some state-of-the-art open-source software that implements such structure-preserving methods - with a bias coming from our own research background.
